Health
Professionals and Allied Employees (HPAE) recently announced their endorsement
of Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) for re-election, citing his continued effort
on behalf of improving health care, safer working conditions and bolstering
wages and job training in the United States Senate.
"In these truly
difficult and uncertain economic times, we need a champion who has always stood
with us, on the frontlines of healthcare, in our capacity as patient advocates,
and in our needs as parents and wage-earners. We know we can count on
Senator Lautenberg -- he has always stood side-by-side with nurses and
healthcare workers, and with our patients. We are standing side-by-side
with him in this election so that we can win real health care reform, as well
as economic policies that protect working families, not bankers," said
HPAE President Ann Twomey, whose Union represents 12,000 nurses and health care
professionals across New Jersey.
"I am proud to
accept the Health Professionals and Allied Employees endorsement. Whether
fighting to make health care more affordable and accessible or preventing the
Bush Administration from cutting health care for thousands of New Jersey
children, HPAE members know that they have an ally in Frank Lautenberg in the
United States Senate," said Sen. Lautenberg.
HPAE is the largest
union of Registered Nurses and health care professionals in New Jersey.
