Millville, Cape May airports get funds to improve runways
PRESS OF ATLANTIC CITYThe Federal Aviation Administration has awarded $157,225 for runway improvements to the Cape May and Millville airports.
Millville will receive $88,350 and Cape May will receive $68,875 to help redesign drainage systems and prevent flooding on runways, taxiways and aprons.
The funding was announced by U.S. Sens. Robert Menendez and Frank Lautenberg, both D-N.J.
In a news release, the senators said the funding will help prevent flooding on the runways, which will increase their availability and safety and reduce delays.
Since May, the senators have announced more than $17 million for upgrades and repairs at airports across the state, according to the news release.
