Human Rights Campaign Endorses Lautenberg for Re-Election
The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation's largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) civil rights organization, today endorsed Senator Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) for re-election over his Republican opponent Dick Zimmer.

"Sen. Frank Lautenberg has been one of the LGBT community's most dedicated and reliable allies on Capitol Hill, and HRC is honored to endorse his candidacy to retain his seat in the U.S. Senate," said Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese. "Sen. Lautenberg is not only a tireless advocate for the people of New Jersey, but a true steward of the ideals that make this country great -- fairness, justice and opportunity."

"I am proud to accept the Human Rights Campaign's endorsement and vow to continue the fight against all forms of bigotry, hate and prejudice and for basic equality and civil rights as New Jersey's U.S. Senator," said Sen. Frank Lautenberg.

HRC is America's largest civil rights organization working to achieve gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality.  By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against GLBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.

HRC seeks to improve the lives of GLBT Americans by advocating for equal rights and benefits in the workplace, ensuring families are treated equally under the law and increasing public support among all Americans through innovative advocacy, education and outreach programs.

HRC works to secure equal rights for GLBT individuals and families at the federal and state levels by lobbying elected officials, mobilizing grassroots supporters, educating Americans, investing strategically to elect fair-minded officials and partnering with other GLBT organizations.
