In case you missed it, I thought you might want to read some excerpts from the speech I gave announcing my candidacy.

Five Years in Iraq is Long Enough
Five years. Nearly 4,000 lives lost. And still no end in sight. That's the result of the failed policies of George Bush and those who march in lockstep with him.

The mortgage crisis. Putting Wall Street ahead of Main Street hits home.
For too long the Bush Republicans in Washington have allowed giant corporate interests like Enron and Halliburton to run wild. And middle class and working families paid the price.

Standing up to the NRA to close the gun show loophole
In the same time it takes you to read this sentence, a computerized background check can stop a criminal from legally buying a gun. But unlike gun shops, no background check is required to buy a gun at a gun show.

Standing up to George Bush and the Chemical Lobbyists – and Winning
New Jerseyans know all too well that our industrial state has its share of chemical facilities. While they create good jobs and boost our economy, they also increase the danger of environmental disaster and terrorist attack.

Bad signal -- My9 TV breaks its promise to cover NJ issues
When WWOR moved from New York City to New Jersey, the FCC's decision to grant their broadcasting license stated, "This station will not be a New Jersey station in name only. It will serve the people of New Jersey." Yet WWOR has done the exact opposite.

Reforming Washington, cutting waste and getting our fair share for NJ

Children or War- Bush’s sad choice
We spend $3 billion a week on the Iraq War…in three months that adds up to $36 billion. For $35 billion we could have extended health care coverage to almost ten million uninsured children- including 130,000 in New Jersey- from working and low-income families for five years.
Yet President Bush vetoed the federal Children’s Health Insurance Program – CHIP.

Terrorists and Guns - Outrageous Together
In May, the FBI arrested six men in Cherry Hill for a terrorist plot to attack Fort Dix and harm our troops.
Believe it or not, they actually bought their guns legally from a gun store.
So, I’ve written a bill to stop known or suspected terrorists from being able to walk into any gun store in America and legally buy a gun.

Your Right to Know
What could be more basic than having the right to know if there are any health hazards in your neighborhood - particularly toxic chemicals? Yet the Bush Administration weakened rules that required companies to let the public know what kind of chemicals are being discharged into the environment by factories and plants that sit side by side with residential areas. Read the full story here and sign our petition to let President Bush know to sign my bill into law when it reaches his desk.

The All-Night Iraq Debate
When you witness the sacrifices our troops make every single day in Iraq, staying up all night to debate the issue of the Iraq War wasn't a burden - it was an honor. As you may know, recently there was a very unusual all-night session in the United States Senate. The debate was over an amendment to bring our troops home from Iraq as soon as possible, as safely as possible.
